The last time Daphne had seen her childhood friend Estella, they had parted on bad terms because of her affair with Petro, Estella's then-groom-to-be. The wedding was called off, Daphne joined the king's army, and Estella reluctantly became the greatest healer ever to have walked the Realms.
Denied leave from the the king's army to care for her sick father, Daphne turned AWOL and made her way back home. She almost turned to a life of crime, but her father instead requested that she ask Estella for help. With no money and constantly hiding from the authorities, Daphne hesitatingly agreed.
But on her way to meet Estella, Daphne had to run into Petro, of all people. They ended up rekindling their old affair – which caused Estella's long-buried feelings to bubble up to the surface. Estella stormed off and hadn't been seen since that day. After much searching, Daphne and Petro were appalled to discover that the notorious local warlord Primrose has her.
With bounty hunters and the king's men bearing down on her, can Daphne rescue Estella in time to save her father?
